MAR – The Amphibious Rover for Environmental Monitoring

MAR – Multipurpose Amphibious Rover is an amphibious rover designed to operate seamlessly across land, water and transitional environments without changing its configuration. Thanks to its modular architecture, it provides an innovative robotic platform for environmental monitoring, data acquisition, inspections in hard-to-reach areas and support for scientific research activities.

Developed by SeTeL through a long-term research and innovation programme, MAR integrates advanced sensors, intelligent navigation systems and data acquisition technologies, offering a versatile solution for applications in aquaculture, the Blue Economy, biodiversity monitoring, water resource management and ecosystem protection.

A Robotic Platform Designed for Hybrid Environments

The key innovation of the MAR amphibious rover lies in its ability to move continuously across land, water, wetlands, muddy terrain and coastal areas without requiring any mechanical reconfiguration.

This unique capability eliminates the need for different robotic platforms to operate in different environments, making MAR particularly effective for monitoring activities in complex ecosystems where the transition between land and water is often the main limitation of conventional technologies.

Its modular architecture also enables rapid adaptation to different missions by simply integrating dedicated payloads and sensor packages.
